ECHDC Food Market Survey
The Erie Canal Harbor Development Corporation is asking for the public’s input concerning restaurant and food market opinions and decisions. I have an email in to ask, but take a look, fill it out, and let me know what you think it’s all about.
I think it’s part of the planning for a proposed food market at Canal Side, and also possibly to prioritize what sort of restaurant concessions are approved or pursued. This way, when Goldman et al. complain about what ends up there, the Authority can point to the survey and argue that they sought and received public input, and avoid controversy over who speaks for whom.
I’m sick and tired of every “plan” in Buffalo needing to be crowd-sourced. It’s the reason nothing is getting done aside from some green space and Adirondack chairs…
Alan- I am sure you know what you are talking about, but this link to the survey does not in any place identify it as an ECHDC survey. Likewise, nothing that i can find on their website indicates a link to this or any food survey. So while I believe that it is a true ECHDC survey, because, you know, you say so, can you source it to a link that has an ECHDC reference to it? I am just asking because I know a lot of people that would be interested in this and I want to make sure that it is a survey from ECHDC.
@Jay: Here is a link to the ECHDC Twitter post linking to the survey.
thanks Alan!
This survey makes me fearful that the public market that will be placed in Canalside will be less like something you see at Quincy Market and something more like Wegmans – so to speak. The market shouldn’t necessarily act as an anchor, but as a catalyst to draw people and keep them for longer than 20 minutes.
Give me a public market with numerous food choices (hoagies, burgers, sushi etc.) and let me eat indoors or out near the water. Allow that development foster the attraction for attendance and further development.
This survey is for the Broadway Market. If you look at the first part of survey, it contains 6 places from the Broadway Market.
