Weppner and the Parenthetical Hitler

Hey, the candidates are replying to questionnaires. Let’s take a look!

Kathy Weppner appears to be the only candidate vain enough to list “Patriot” as a qualification-slash-experience for public office.  That’s just breathtaking. I mean, Harvard Shmarvard. Being a “Patriot” is basically a silent pre-requisite for running for any public office in the U.S., like “sentient being” or “has central nervous system” or “skeleton”.

Let’s compare the candidates’ “community involvement”, and watch Higgins mop the floor with Weppner’s “hey, I show up when people ask me to” slacktivism.

Well, well, well. There are so many issues that the government should be addressing, and Higgins focuses on some key ones that fit neatly within a Congressional backbencher’s wheelhouse. But Weppner – she identifies the debt as “our top challenge”, and that if interest rates – that the Fed sets – go up, we won’t make the payments? The US has never defaulted, even in the 80s under Reagan’s debt and double-digit interest rates. People like Weppner who conflate public debt with family debt don’t really understand what they’re talking about.

First, families have to pay back their debt. Governments don’t — all they need to do is ensure that debt grows more slowly than their tax base. The debt from World War II was never repaid; it just became increasingly irrelevant as the U.S. economy grew, and with it the income subject to taxation.

Second — and this is the point almost nobody seems to get — an over-borrowed family owes money to someone else; U.S. debt is, to a large extent, money we owe to ourselves…

…It’s true that foreigners now hold large claims on the United States, including a fair amount of government debt. But every dollar’s worth of foreign claims on America is matched by 89 cents’ worth of U.S. claims on foreigners. And because foreigners tend to put their U.S. investments into safe, low-yield assets, America actually earns morefrom its assets abroad than it pays to foreign investors. If your image is of a nation that’s already deep in hock to the Chinese, you’ve been misinformed. Nor are we heading rapidly in that direction.

Now, the fact that federal debt isn’t at all like a mortgage on America’s future doesn’t mean that the debt is harmless. Taxes must be levied to pay the interest, and you don’t have to be a right-wing ideologue to concede that taxes impose some cost on the economy, if nothing else by causing a diversion of resources away from productive activities into tax avoidance and evasion. But these costs are a lot less dramatic than the analogy with an overindebted family might suggest.

I don’t know what Congress is going to do about “leadership” in a “dangerous world”, but whatever. She’s running a chain-email campaign

Now, on to income inequality. If you haven’t, you should read Monday’s Krugman, and then look at this:

Every time an increase in the minimum wage is proposed, the wealthy egotists who think themselves ‘job creators” and their minions whine about how the jobs will all be lost! They do this, of course, while simultaneously denigrating the jobs and their occupants as losers, slackers, teens, or all of the above.

But the loss of jobs doesn’t happen. At all. If the minimum wage had kept up with inflation over the last 40 years, it would be $10.90/hour.  Instead, the federal rate is $7.25. No one’s talking about making everyone earn the same – this isn’t some Stalinist march to the kolkhoz, but ensuring that people who work earn enough to live, and that we halt policies that disproportionately enrich the already rich at the expense of the poor and middle class. You know, to stop this

But note the rhetoric about how “immigrants…started with nothing, did anything, and ended up great! About that

So, on the one hand, immigrants do just great! But on the other hand, they’re all lawbreaking terrorist welfare queens who want to bankrupt the republic.

See? It’s your own fault that we don’t know who’s funding campaigns. The word salad that Weppner sharts out here is utter nonsense.

LOLWUT? First of all, I’d like someone to ask Weppner about the science of global climate change and see if she says the same thing. She completely fails to answer the question posed in any meaningful way, and just punts, adding that we like totally really need to be able to transport her phantom resources “based on science”.

Common Core is not a federal program, isn’t administered or run from Washington, and was not a federal government initiative. Other than that, awesome!

So, on the one hand, she brings up a separation of powers issue that’s been pretty much resolved for some time – the Commander in Chief does not need a declaration of war to commit US troops. But the last time Congress declared war was World War 2, to combat, among others, Hitler – who appears here parenthetically.

We didn’t fight Hitler because of his crimes against humanity – we fought him because he declared war on the US on Pearl Harbor Day, and because the Nazis had overrun Europe and North Africa. Germany, Italy, and Japan were imposing militarist fascist totalitarian dictatorships all over the place, and we fought Nazi Germany because it had to be done. Weppner alludes to ISIS and its vicious reign of terror, but why isn’t the beheading and crucifixion of adults also a “crime against humanity” justifying American action?

“Why do we deliver humanitarian food and shelter when humanity is threatened but we do not see the same need when life itself is threatened”.  What on Earth does that mean? We fought crimes against humanity in Bosnia and Kosovo in the last 20 years. What is she saying?

She started her recent career as a caller to ultra-right-wing hate radio. She graduated from there to being a host on ultra-right-wing hate radio. Now, she feels entitled to a title, and in so doing is simply regurgitating nonsense she hears on ultra-right-wing hate radio. She’ll be lucky to hit 20% because the vast majority of WNY voters are not fascist idiots.

  • Weppner never has anything of substance to say (regurgitates). I notice that she “attended” college but never completed a degree. Pretty much “expected” that…….

  • While I do understand the point you are making about “Harvard Shmarvard”, I think it is important that people have a fair shot at running for a public office regardless of their completed education level. I don’t think its necessarily fair to dig her on this point. Agreed though that “Patriot” is a….. um, poor qualification.

With that being said, I know plenty of people who did not attend college that can speak and write far more coherently than Kathy. College or not, she is not the type of individual I want representing me.

    • My 7 yr old niece is a more articulate speaker than Kathy Weppner.

    • I agree that “completed education levels,’ should not be a disqualifier. However, then then one must look to employment history. Without dates given for her magical years at WKBW she has MAYBE 40 2-4 hour radio shows a year? Let’s give her the benefit of the doubt and say she worked one month a year for those 9 years. She would be better off leaving off all work experience and going with stay at home Mom with Marine propagating tendencies.

  • Where do the candidates stand on the use of commas? – Kathy Weppner – “I oppose the use of commas (Hitler).”

  • I now firmly believe that the Weppner campaign is a calculated and elaborate concoction brought to us by The Onion, maybe the Colbert Report. She really does need her own Comedy Central show.

  • Clearly Higgins has a studied copy person writing his responses, but content aside Weppner’s responses read like she wrote them while watching TV and downing a bottle of wine. The ends don’t match the beginnings and they seem to flail all over the place, randomly banging trigger word gongs. How anyone in her “organization” could ever approve such a dismal public display of their candidates inability to come across as even remotely coherent is beyond me.

  • This dummy’s campaign has passed the point of self-parody and entered the realm of insanity. It’s a mystery to me why anyone would take Nick Langworthy seriously when he abandoned Sergio Rodriguez in a winnable Mayoral race, but wholeheartedly supports this dingbat who will get curbstomped by Higgins.

  • Weppner is never going to win. The numerous posts about here are nothing more than preaching to the choir. I’d rather read about the virtues of pizza baked on stone in an 800 degree oven.

  • Shorter Pundit (I read it so you wouldn’t have to):
    Sigh — no I didn’t.

  • In driving to work down Hopkins/Evans/Garrison/Wehrle, I saw multiple Weppner signs on people’s lawn. I understand defaulting to Republican, but I can’t see how with any research you would support her.

  • I am not defending Kathy at all. I’m looking at this comment you made.

“Let’s compare the candidates’ “community involvement”, and watch Higgins
mop the floor with Weppner’s “hey, I show up when people ask me to”
    slacktivism. ”

I don’t know if I will get my point across correctly and excuse me if my grammar is not flawless.

I don’t believe when you are paid upwards of $175,000 plus bene’s that you can say you are a public servant any longer or that your “community involvement” is based on the kindness of your heart. You are getting paid quite a bit to be “involved” in your community.

The true public servants, at least what I would define as public servant are the people in our community who work/volunteer for free every day. When are starting to make 50k, 60k, 100k and up… You are an employee.

I had someone tell me in the past “If I worked in the private sector I would be making more than…. fill in the blank dollars” The only answer I gave each one of these people is… Don’t let the door hit you on the ass. Go for it. They never do.

When you hear someone say “I devoted my live to public service” they fail to mention some of the sizable pay checks they get.

    • The Church of Bill Hicks, LDS.

Well, let’s ignore your grammar and focus on your faulty logic: the South Buffalo Community Table is part of the Buffalo Hunger project and not a congressional committee. So (and stay with me on this) when Higgins was working with them, he was involved in the community. Thus the term community involvement. By contrast, Weppner puked words on the page at a level below a high-schooler fluffing a resume before applying for an internship.

      • The Buffalo Hunger Project is an opportunity for Higgins to pad his resume and makes it even easier for him to retain his $175,000 job.

        • Has Brian retained funding for the Buffalo Hunger Project. I’m am not say the group is bad or anything. I just look at some of what elected officials do as passively campaigning for the next election.

        • The number and email for the woman who runs the program is right there on their website. Why not call and find out?

        • The Church of Bill Hicks, LDS.

“The Buffalo Hunger Project is an opportunity for Higgins to pad his resume and makes it even easier for him to retain his $175,000 job.” – Possibly, but it appears Kathy is incapable of doing so. That’s why I and this article mocked her. It’s also still community involvement, which is the debate above. Do try to keep up.

          • I have no trouble keeping up. I couldn’t, with a clear conscience, vote for either one. Projecting either outcome though, Weppner would probably do far less damage than Higgins already has.

      • When Brian was “working” with the South Buffalo Community Table was he on our payroll? If I can collect 6 figures with very little work load I think I would be volunteering quite a bit. What I have noticed is our elected officials (and stay with me on this) “volunteer” but are actually keeping their name in front of the public. Basically campaigning while being “involved” in the community. Either way being involved is good put don’t give me some bullshit I devoted my life to public service while taking home a 6 figure salary not including generous benefits.

Once again I am not defending Kathy. Kathy started to scrub past comments she has made when she first started to run for office. If she will do that now she would have no issue doing something like once elected. I’m also not saying Brian is any worse than anyone else in office.

Most elected officials fluff most of what they say. Elected officials can easily talk for 20 minutes and not actually say anything concrete. Just look at WNY over the last 25 years.

Countless people/businesses fled and we have some of the highest property taxes in the nation.

Yet we read about the good job the same elected officials/political party members have done over the years.

I see people in our community making a difference but they are not the elected leaders or “Government, Inc”. In most cases I think “Government” is more in the way than helpful

        • I absolutely love that you included this —> (and stay with me on this)

I found that so condescending when MR LDS said it. Career “servants” is double speak for “paid” masters

          • I would also like to know what does “working with them” mean?

Actually “working” with the group or just showing up checking the place out? Once again it is good that he goes so don’t take what I’m saying out of context.

          • He is going into his 6th congress. 12 years. His record speaks for itself. I know nothing about the lady in the race, I responded to this article because of the hatred. The rhetoric is so thick.

          • It’s not hatred. It’s mockery.

          • Notice how hatred pairs so well with irrational fear and blinding ignorance, both of which are the hallmark of talk radio.

          • Condescending to idiots is a virtue, not a vice.

        • The Church of Bill Hicks, LDS.

Awww, you tried. Good effort. Unfortunately, your personal theories still don’t justify to your original premise, that “I don’t believe when you are paid upwards of $175,000 plus bene’s that you can say you are a public servant any longer or that your “community involvement” is based on the kindness of your heart.” If you are involved in the community, and it’s not an office of your job, guess what? It’s still community involvement.

I know, it’s difficult to actually go back and read what you read (I had to do it twice, but you having to go back and read what you wrote? That must be a nightmare for you, poor thing), but be sure to do that before responding to me.

    • So, you’re saying that people serving in Congress are not public servants? The President is not a public servant? Is it because of the amount of money they earn? In that case, what is the salary cut-off where one magically ceases to be a public servant by dint of their earnings?

You’ve identified it as being less than $50k. Do you think that Congresspeople should make $49,999 and, if so, what have you done to bring that result about?

      • Not in the sense some elected officials try to push on the tax payers. The sacrifices they make for us. I call BS.

Has a lot to do with the amount of money they earn. Years ago the salaries were low as were the benefits but you had job security. I could see where that could be considered public “service”. WHen you are making 6 figures, overly generous pensions and in some cases no accountability for the job you perform you are just an employee paid for by the tax payer.

I was using 50k and up as an example.

I would be fine if Congress people made 50k. I think it would help in the decision making process when it comes to “who’s best interest” are they actually serving.

        • Well, then go ahead and have your representative introduce a law setting the congressional rate of pay at $49,999.99. I don’t really think the rate of pay is relevant to whether someone is active in the community. I’m sure there are plenty of people making six, seven, even eight figures who don’t do jack shit for their community, so it’s nice when important people pitch in and go above and beyond.

          • Alan you know better. A leopard doesn’t change it’s spots. We have Congress people who feel they are underpaid as it is. We don’t let Congress themselves vote on something like this.. The BOSS votes on this. The tax payers.

          • Actually they don’t. Congress has the authority to raise its own pay, but the raises are delayed until after the next election to ensure that the ELIGIBLE VOTERS, not just taxpayers, can exercise their right to keep or replace those reps.

  • As a preface: Left vs Right is for status qua, and forgive me for going out of order but your information is a bit to biased and sometimes downright frustrating. Your total disdain for someone of opposing views and your lack of respect for her or the service of her children in the marines is abhorrent. While advocating for a man who has become a millionaire being a public “servant” and yet is rated at 16% in votes that are constitutional in congress.

“Common Core is not a federal program, isn’t administered or run from Washington, and was not a federal government initiative”

-The federal government coerced states to adopt Common Core by linking them to Race to the Top grant money and the NCLB waivers. Nothing like coercion of federal funds on dependent schools districts to obliterate your point. RTT grants were worth BILLIONS, Teacher unions and politicians grabbed the money before the teachers or parents ever saw the material

-NGOs are tax payer funded, not all governors are involved, its a non binding social club of political correctness
    http://news.heartland.org/newspaper-article/2013/04/24/state-led-common-core-pushed-federally-funded-nonprofit

-For starters, the 29-member committee that wrote the standards had 2 actual teachers on it, but plenty of representatives from the testing industry. Because it is illegal for the U.S. Department of Education to exert influence over state curriculum, the Bill Gates foundation stepped in and funded most of the influence. Even worse, the committee that wrote the standards no longer exists, and there are no formal procedures for amending them. And the only professional tenured educators (1 English/1 math) voted against it and were removed and their names removed from the record, making it appear to have 27 members officially. Here is a statement the English language arts (ELA) standards expert on Common Core’s Validation Committee released stating quite completely and eloquently that it was not validated legally and how utterly useless it is having education standards written by people with no education experience.

    http://www.uaedreform.org/downloads/2013/11/common-cores-invalid-validation-committee.pdf

-“As Duncan’s chief of staff wrote at the time, Common Core was intended to create a national market for book publishers, technology companies, testing corporations, and other vendors,”……nothing says across the board federal standards based on the money interests of corporations there…right?

“Now, on to income inequality. If you haven’t, you should read Monday’s Krugman, and then look at this: ”

Krugman is a Keynesian during a Keynesian crisis who thinks the Fed and the government can jumpstart the economy out of recession by printing more money and increasing the deficit, thus increasing inflation which in turn makes the left want to raise wages and raise taxes and FAIL COMPLETELY IN LOGIC while watching Business and citizens expatriate their money and skill.

The author of this piece needs a very inclusive instruction on inflation. Debts are not irrelevant. Gov debt is related to household debt in the sense that households do not earn more based on the rate of inflation caused by skyrocketing national debt….but products our households buy do get affected by inflation from skyrocketing debt. The dollar has lost 97% of its buying power in 102 years of continual borrowing and war. Interest rates do matter, ask anyone with interest bearing debt. The more they print, the more in circulation, the less its worth. Perhaps researching the “Nixon economic shock” would be a good start for your study, but it began much earlier. Thats when the gov lost total control, removed gold from being the reserve backing our currency at $35 an ounce and switch to the petrodollar by offering Saudi Arabia military protection in exchange for every drop of their oil being sold in dollars. If other countries needed oil they would have to have dollars which meant they had to export their goods here to get those dollars to buy their oil. Oh and we stole all the gold we held in trust from many countries.

This relates to minimum wage as well, the left wants to raise minimum wage at the expense of businesses instead of living withing its means. You should get the gov’t you pay for, not the govt your great great grandkids will be paying for. Tax receipts are at all time highs because the left keeps raising taxes. Raising “minimum wage” means ostracizing those above minimum….why be a title clerk when I can flip a burger. And why hire a cashier when I can get a touch screen…see how this works. Income inequality at the bottom is nothing but divide and conquer. Success is a ladder, climb it but stop yelling about having a regulator giving you a raise.

We have become a service oriented economy on the bottom and a war and usury economy on the top, addressing the symptoms will never bring us back. We cannot even keep burger king because of the tax rates, so if a service industry will not stay…how do expect any politician to get good jobs to come back from mexico, Canada, india and china. NY has to offer 10 years tax free to get an industry that ….well……I am nothing but optimistic, while simultaneously pushing out Remington which has been here for 200+ yrs because of an ill gotten law.

Both politicians offer no solution, just managed opposition to each other.

For defense, combined they make a sound statement. He ignores commenting the legal duty of his office and branch but addresses the overall feeling of 99% of Americans, she at least points out it is the congress that declares war and the president has neglected to get such an authorization.

“Commander in Chief does not need a declaration of war to commit US troops” yes he does unless it is an immanent threat to our national security or through a 60-90 war powers res act.

-“At my direction, America led an effort with our allies at the United Nations Security Council to pass an historic Resolution that authorized a No Fly Zone to stop the regime’s attacks from the air, and further authorized all necessary measures to protect the Libyan people.” Obama

It’s long been established that Obama failed to secure a congressional declaration of war, as the constitution and Senator Obama’s understanding of it dictated; and that he violated the War Powers Resolution requiring withdrawal within 60 to 90 days unless Congress approves military action. Not to mention the rat line set up in Benghazi and overseen by Christopher Stevens, now deceased.

    Seymour Hersch
    http://www.zerohedge.com/news/2014-04-13/obama-red-line-and-rat-line

Now he is in Syria with the 2001 Authorization of Military force that is beyond the realm of Orwellian insanity. Read the link above by prize winning journalist hersch and you will see Libya, Iraq and Syria have become very intertwined through this ratline of arming “extremist rebels” to destabilize sovereign gov’t the US does not like. PROXY WARS. Assad refused a Saudi request to build a pipeline, Quadafi was trading oil for gold dinars, Sadam was trading oil for euros and the taliban eradicated the opium supply. Geo politics is corruption at its core and any politician that raises taxes at home or makes us suffer inflation to pay for war is a willing participant to our problems, not a viable solution to them. Oh and now this…..because obama really cares about civilians.

“The White House has acknowledged for the first time that strict standards President Obama imposed last year to prevent civilian deaths from U.S. drone strikes will not apply to U.S. military operations in Syria and Iraq.”
    http://news.yahoo.com/white-house-exempts-syria-airstrikes-from-tight-standards-on-civilian-deaths-183724795.html

Regarding WW2 might need to reexamine history from something other than a state sponsored text book and bosnia and kosovo too. Not saying this republican cand is right, just you both have a useless summary based on myth and the principal that “history is written by the winners”. We allied with the Soviet union, if you know anything about history …..that should say it all considering declassification has revealed japan had surrendered prior to US dropping two atom bombs, we did that because the soviets were moving their massive army towards japan to take it. It was a warning shot to the USSR, not a victory over japan. Even the reasons Japan attacked us are now know and we were warned. And the fact we had Japanese concentration camps in America…wow. History is amazing and the truth is far more intriguing than the fiction. Operation paperclip. And on and on. Did you know 6mil jews did not die in German controlled camps, that the gas chambers were build AFTER russia liberated Auschwitz and that the International Red cross puts the total at 276,000 for all camp deaths in German control. Even the signs at the museum have been changed from 6 million to 1 million but our leaders still promote the lie. Why, I will never know. Did you know that 5 million German citizens and 2 million soldiers died in russian and allied camps after the war ended from starvation. Allied policy after the war was to reduce the German population through, murder in multiple forms, slave labor, and starvation, and destroy the fabric of the society through mass rape of the female population. And in tieing all this together, please look up inflation in the Weinmar republic post treaty of Versailles .

Again, war is insanity, small or large and when we do not know history we repeat it.

-So she calls herself a patriot being quite obviously the opposite of the collectivist left movement. A patriot is defined by a love of country, especially for popular liberty. Superficially we may confuse patriotism and collectivism as being the love of a group but that is not the essence of the definition. A patriot’s love for country, unlike the collectivist’s love for the group, is a love based upon a reason that does not exist for the collectivist—popular liberty, or freedom for all. Collectivists cannot be patriots because their love for the group is without reason. Which is why you clearly hate the word so very much. The collectivist’s concern is for his primary end, the will and welfare of the group, which he intends to accomplish without concern for the justness of the means. The patriot’s concern is for popular liberty, which can only be maintained through reason where the means must justify the ends.

-Liberty is the hallmark of the “Patriots”, it is also this nations foundation and not its fringe.

-Liberty is based upon fundamental principles and not philosophies or policies. Principles, which are based on truth, are constant and timeless; philosophies and policies are variable and changing and are based upon theories, circumstances and opinion. Second, we must recognize that liberty is not free. It must be both earned and guarded. Lastly, we must realize that liberty requires public morality or virtue. The greatest, and probably most generally unrecognized, threat to our liberty today results from the gradual erosion of virtue. This decay has resulted from negligence and apathy on the part of many and from calculated attacks on the part of a few. The invasive roots of its opposing influences have crept deeper into the soil of our communities while we have slept, and in some cases, while we have been thwarted in our efforts to eradicate their causes. James Madison stated: “I believe that there are more instances of the abridgment of the freedom of the people by gradual and silent encroachment of those in power than by violent and sudden usurpations.” When the policies and practices of the nation favor rights in exclusion of responsibility, and sanction vice at the expense of virtue, calamity is imminent. The impending consequences of the ruin of public virtue, which already cast a dark shadow across our nation, now loom on the horizon as a force destructive to our society, our government and our very peace and happiness.

-The Founding Fathers proclaimed liberty to be an “unalienable right” bestowed by our Creator, as witnessed by their signatures to the Declaration of Independence which states: “We hold these Truths to be self-evident, that all man are created equal . . . endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness — .” The Constitution states that it was ordained and established to secure the “Blessings of Liberty” to succeeding generations. According to Webster’s Dictionary to “bless” is to invoke divine care, and to be “blessed” is to enjoy the bliss of heaven. Thus, both the Constitution and the Declaration of Independence make reference to a divine connection with liberty.

-The principle of virtue is far greater and of more importance than all other principles combined. Without it, others fail. Virtue is the bridge between liberty and true civilization. It intersects society and the soul. It is liberty’s mooring. No other principle is more commonly emphasized by the Founding Fathers. George Washington said: “Virtue or morality is a necessary spring of popular government.” Benjamin Franklin said: “Only a virtuous people are capable of freedom.” James Madison stated: “To suppose that any form of government will secure liberty or happiness without any virtue in the people, is a chimerical idea.” Samuel Adams said: “Neither the wisest constitution nor the wisest laws will secure the liberty and happiness of a people whose manners are universally corrupt. He therefore is the truest friend of the liberty of his country who tries most to promote its virtue.” Patrick Henry stated that: “A vitiated state of morals, a corrupted public conscience, is incompatible with freedom.” Andrew Jackson said: “No free government can stand without virtue in the people, and a lofty spirit of patriotism. . . .” John Adams stated: “Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.” Liberty without principle, without virtue or morality, is not liberty at all.

-Self-government, or democracy, can only be perpetuated by the self-governed. Henry Ward Beecher said: “There is no liberty to men who know not how to govern themselves.”

As for energy, I have no clue what she means. If I had said “science” I would have explained. Fact is this nations currency is controlled by oil. “Nixon Economic Shock”, it will never stop. Even being such a huge producer these days means nothing, its private companies sucking our oil and selling it back. Its not enriching us at all. Any politician who does not explicitly want to work to lower the cost of energy is a complete and utter waste of a vote. Higgins, particularity is anti energy(that benefits the citizens)…look at his congressional record. he counts on you believing what he says, DONT. He voted to allow the EPA to double our electric rates, the vote failed, thankfully.

    —————————————————————————————————————————-

As for immigration, we have laws. Calling these people Refugees does not match reality. Calling them children when HHS defines children as 31 and younger is ridiculous. Resettling illegal immigrants in all 50 states with out consulting the states is unethical under the 10th amendment. Amnesty is insanity and Higgins is all for it. We are a nation of immigrants and they all lined up and were granted citizenship by rule of law. I know legal immigrants who absolutely resent the dems for this crap. Higgins voted to “seek to implement an administrative amnesty policy.” this past session. regan was told if he granted amnesty the southern border would be secured, he was lied to. Bush signed a law for an electric fence, obama moved the funding to another project under his purview.
    —————————————————————————————————————————-
I dont know if I can go on, She is untested and higgins has a 16% Cumulative Freedom Index Score based on the U.S. Constitution on his votes in congress…that is pathetic. He does not vote on principal he votes on philosophy and policy. That is not how an elected rep is supposed to uphold liberty. he has “occupied” the seat far too long. If all politicians had a term limit we would not have morons like higgins supporting the eradication of the 1st amendment. Under that proposed amendment if Artvoice is a corporation you would have been in violation of the law writing this article.

-He voted against ending the illegal surveillance on American citizens

-he voted to loan 150 million to a fascist coup govt in Ukraine that shot down a civilian plane killing 290.

-he voted to allow the EPA to double our electricity rates…it did not pass, but he was for it

-he continually votes to borrow more money…..we spent 1 billion striking syria so far

-he voted to allow tax payer funded abortions……personal responsibility people

If I was going to choose between the better of two evils paradigm that is “left vs right”, I would choose a homemaker, a marines mother with skin in the game and someone who relates to liberty over the collectivist vision of Higgins. But anyone reading your article is wholly unprepared to vote for either, unfortunately. journalism is not what it used to be

  • fas·cism
    noun ˈfa-ˌshi-zəm also ˈfa-ˌsi-
: a way of organizing a society in which a government ruled by a dictator controls the lives of the people and in which people are not allowed to disagree with the government
: very harsh control or authority

Its Higgins supporting a constitutional amendment to limit political speech…otherwise known as disagreeing with the gov’t

How do you actually convince yourself that fascism equates to liberty and not directly to collectivism?

  • “She started her recent career as a caller to ultra-right-wing hate
radio. She graduated from there to being a host on ultra-right-wing hate
radio. Now, she feels entitled to a title, and in so doing is simply
regurgitating nonsense she hears on ultra-right-wing hate radio. She’ll
be lucky to hit 20% because the vast majority of WNY voters are not
    fascist idiots.”

Why is it when someone has a different opinion than yours it’s hate?

    • It’s not.

WBEN isn’t hate radio because it spews an opinion different from mine. It’s hate radio because it spews hatred.

      • No. It spews opinions different than your own. I do not listen to the station as much as I used to. When I do I really don’t catch “hate” speech in the context of what you are saying.

“Hate speech is, outside the law, speech that attacks a person or group on the basis of attributes such as gender, ethnic origin, religion, race, disability, or sexual orientation.”

        • Next time Bauerle goes off on a rant about eliminating the POTUS, a coup, a revolution, and the next time Sandy Beach goes on and on about how black people and women should just STFU already, you tell me all about how that’s not hate speech.

Incidentally, I don’t think that all hate speech is extralegal or illegal. I don’t think a crime is being committed, necessarily. But I don’t think that the excreta that comes out of WBEN hosts’ mouths comes from a place of love.

          • I don’t see it that way but I’m not saying they don’t go off on rants. Today I’ll make a point of listening to Tom’s show at 3. Lets see if he goes off on a rant
