Coca Cola Offends People Who Purport to Hate “PC”

If this woman singing “America the Beautiful” in Arabic makes you angry, then you are a horrible and small-minded person

Last week, left-leaning horrible 24-hour news network MSNBC was forced to apologize for Tweeting,

“Maybe the rightwing will hate it, but everyone else will go awww: the adorable new #Cheerios ad w/ biracial family. http://t.co/SpB4rQDoAR“.

A staffer even lost his job over it.

MSNBC was right to bow to pressure from Reince Priebus and the Republican National Committee.  It got it all wrong.

The right wing was actually outraged over an ad for Coca Cola, which featured people singing “America the Beautiful” in different languages

To sum up, if you are outraged or angry over this ad for a sugar water that is sold around the world, and is practically an ambassador for America itself, then be advised that you are a horrible and awful person, and I implore you to get help.

Here’s one Fox News hack

Here’s former Congressman and alleged crime perpetrator Allen West,

I am quite sure there may some who appreciated the commercial, but Coca Cola missed the mark in my opinion. If we cannot be proud enough as a country to sing “American the Beautiful” in English in a commercial during the Super Bowl, by a company as American as they come — doggone we are on the road to perdition. This was a truly disturbing commercial for me, what say you?

Well, it’s not as patriotic as beating a detainee or threatening to kill an Iraqi policeman, so maybe we shouldn’t take West’s word for it. And don’t forget to follow #BoycottCoke and #SpeakAmerican (yes, that.)

And these people are also supposed to be interested in buying Maseratis?!

I loved the hell out of that Coke ad, and I’m not offended or threatened by Americans who speak or sing in another language. In fact, I’m one of them.

  • Amerika lijepa!

  • Ah, world: if you didn’t like the depleted uranium, you’ll LOVE the Type 2 diabetes: have a Coke and a Smile and a shot of insulin!

    • It was an ad depicting Americans singing a patriotic song in different languages. You don’t need to be living abroad in order to be a primary speaker of a different language.

      • Right you are. And you don’t need to be living abroad to suffer from depleted uranium–ask a vet. But Coca Cola is an enormous international corporation–kind of like British opium in the nineteenth century.

  • Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.
Send these, the homeless, tempest-tossed, to me:
I lift my lamp beside the golden door. ”

No mention of requiring English too. The ignorant people complaining about this make my heart sad.

    • Your ending of “make my heart sad” defines you, gay person, and makes me want to vomit. America was built by workers and patriots–not people sticking their dingo up another’s butt. Russia has the right idea.

    “Thanks, Obama”…

  • Damn foreigners, drinkin all our coke, breathin all our air, and singin all our songs. Time to send em all back starting with those indians that snuck in here while the white man was making the world safe for all white men.

  • هذا هو السبب RC كولا هو أفضل

  • I agree with what you wrote on Twitter but didn’t want to blow up your feed so I will respond here. I also had a parent(I know you had two) come from a foreign country. My father came here from Kuwait(he himself being from Palestine) to go to school in 79. He met my mother, they moved to Kuwait until 85. While there they had me. He earned his citizenship here, taking a test that I am almost certain many that hated that commercial would have a hard time knowing every question(he knew everyone).
He volunteers in the community often and is the type of guy that would help a stranger on the side of the road with car issues.
I guess the point is, I can’t stand ignorance and bigotry. There are plenty of people I know that don’t realize how “new” my family is to this country when they say things sometimes. Our country was built with new families coming here. Just because they are “foreign” doesn’t mean they came here illegally or with ill intentions(you know because we are Palestinians). Yes he knows 3 languages fluently and has a thick accent but that doesn’t make him a bad person. he just makes him more tolerant of other people’s differences.
Sorry for the ramble. For the record I prefer Pepsi.

  • Gotta love all the Polish, German and other non-anglo descended folk at my office today talking about how offensive this ad was since they dared to speak a different language…like, well, their grandparents did.

Brings up a strong desire in me to quote what Don Rickles said best in Dirty Work: “Why don’t you get a horse, live in the mountains and stop bothering people”

  • Never mind the larger corporate behavior of the imperialist scumbag shithead that is Coca Cola : http://www.indymedia.org.uk/en/2009/03/424277.html

  • I wonder if ex-Colonel West or Todd the Pod Starnes would’ve complained if Coke had translated THIS into multiple languages:
